Privacy policy for Dead Famous
Dead Famous is an app by Zumi Games. It tells you which famous people you have just outlived. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: we do not collect any personal data. Your date of birth never leaves your phone.
What stays on your phone
- Your date of birth. You enter it once. The app stores it only on your phone and uses it only on your phone to work out your age in days. It is never sent anywhere, never logged and never included in a backup (the app turns off Android cloud backup and device transfer).
- Your settings: reminder time, country, language of names, fame level and the other choices on the Settings screen.
- The data pack: the list of famous people, their dates and names. It is the same for every user.
- Wikipedia summaries and photos you have opened, kept for up to 30 days so that they also work offline.
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of this.
What the app downloads, and what those servers can see
The app connects to only two places. Neither connection carries your date of birth, your age or anything you have entered.
- Our data pack host (Cloudflare). On first start and then about once a week, the app downloads the famous-people data pack. Every user downloads the same complete pack; the app never asks for a part chosen by your age. The request reveals your IP address, the app version and which country and language files the app needs (these follow your phone's settings or your choice in Settings). Cloudflare processes these requests to deliver the files. We do not use them to identify you, and we do not combine them with any other data.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata (the Wikimedia Foundation). Only when you tap a person, the app looks up that person's Wikipedia page and photo. Before the first lookup the app tells you that Wikipedia sees which person you open. Wikimedia sees your IP address and the person you opened, under the Wikimedia privacy policy: https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy
Links you choose to open ("Read on Wikipedia", "Edit on Wikidata") open in your browser and follow that site's policy.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking code, and no advertising ID.
- No crash reporters that send data. The only health data we see is the anonymous, aggregated crash and performance statistics that Google Play provides to all developers, for users who allow it in their Android settings.
- We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not have any.
Notifications
The daily reminder is scheduled on your phone. Its text is made on your phone. No server sends it or knows that you use it. On the lock screen the reminder is hidden by default.
Children
Dead Famous is meant for people aged 16 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
